Rio Casino Las Vegas Officially a Destination by Hyatt Resort, Room Sale Underway
The Rio Hotel & Casino located west of the Las Vegas Strip has officially become a part of the World of Hyatt guest loyalty program.
The agreement revealed in March 2021, two years post Caesars Entertainment's sale of the off-Strip all-suites casino resort to Dreamscape Companies, has been finalized.
Hyatt rewards members now have a new destination in Southern Nevada where they can accumulate and use points. Hyatt's collaboration with the Rio follows the Chicago-based hotel giant and MGM Resorts ending their long-standing agreement last year.
World of Hyatt members planning a trip to Rio will discover a refreshed resort after the first phase of its essential $340 million renovation has been completed.
“Rio’s Destination by Hyatt brand affiliation marks an exciting new chapter for our resort through our progressive evolution,” said Patrick Miller, president and CEO of Rio Hotel & Casino. “We’ve not only reenergized the resort’s design and experience, but we’ve proudly honored its legacy as a quintessential Las Vegas icon, providing World of Hyatt members and global travelers with even more ways to immerse themselves in our destination’s fun, energetic, and eclectic atmosphere.”
Rio Reimagined
Miller's remarks originate from the initial renovation stage, which encompasses a complete overhaul of all 1,500 guest rooms in the Ipanema Tower. The renovation preserved the resort’s Rio de Janeiro essence through striking, vivid hues.
The initial phase also featured the new Canteen Food Hall with six distinct dining choices, 220K square feet of updated convention area, an enhanced pool complex, 500 fresh slot machines, and 30 new table games in the casino section.
In phase two, the Masquerade Tower will experience a comparable renovation. The resort’s communal areas will be enhanced as well.
Officials from Dreamscape inform Casino.org that the aim of the $340 million investment is to "develop a lively and dynamic lifestyle experience that balances affordability with indulgence."
Dreamscape is a real estate development company specializing in residential, retail, hospitality, entertainment, and gaming, led by its founder and CEO, Eric Birnbaum. In December 2019, Dreamscape acquired the deteriorating casino resort, which had encountered many complaints prior to its sale, for $516.3 million.
Live Sale
To commemorate its addition as the latest Destination by Hyatt member, enabling the use of the Hyatt rewards program at independent hotels and resorts such as Rio, the Las Vegas casino is providing discounted rates. Rio is involved in Hyatt's cyber sale, which lasts until December 9 for bookings up to April 20, 2025.
Rooms in Rio reserved via the resort’s website are available at a 50% discount for stays of two nights or more.
Members of World of Hyatt rewards will have Rio’s $50 nightly resort charge eliminated on complimentary night awards. Hyatt members holding the elite “Globalist” status consistently enjoy waived resort fees.
The level, however, mandates 60 nights or 100K points annually. Each dollar used for a room earns five World of Hyatt points, indicating that you'll need to spend $20,000 annually on Hyatt rooms to reach the Globalist tier. Nonetheless, there are numerous alternative methods to accumulate points from dining, spa, and experience expenditures.
